stuffing subwoofer box

i stuffed my subwoofer box to eliminate the air leak horrible sound due to poor construction before i couldnt get my volume past 30 with out the system shutting down just out of curiosity why is it that i can crank it up all the way to the max now without it shutting down? does it have any connection in me stuffing the box?

stuffing the box the causes the woofer to think its in a larger box, it slows down the woofer. It would actually require more power for the sub. Not sure excatly why, but it more like, its a better "seal" so ur woofer is healthier playing, using the power better. PLEASE GET A SEALED BOX!

actually, the stuffing does not slow down the woofer at all. The soundwaves are what's being slowed down.

dont know why it wont shut down anymore, good thing that it doesnt but i dont think stuffing it made it not shut down anymore. if anything, stuffing it might make the sub stay hot longer and maybe lead to it malfunctioning due to high temps
