Ok, I have heard lots of great things about biamping, but I admit there is a good deal that I don't understand. SO here's the question
I have a set of polk MOMO 5.25 components as my front stage. I am powering them with the front two channel of a kicker kx800.4, so they are each getting 100 watts. I am thinking about removing my rear fill, they are so low I don't really need them. So the question is, should I bi amp the momo's or will there be no real gain in doing so? can they handle more than 100 watts? what will be the benifits, the draw backs? Iwill still be using the factory passive crossover, it has a biampable switch. thanks

probably too much power... the only way I'd consider bi-amping those wonderful components is with the amp i have... it has a pre-eq made specifically for bi-amping polk/momo components.

You won't receive a sound quality improvement. They may get louder, but you'll risk damaging your speakers if you don't do it right. Do they get loud/clear enough now? If the answer is yes, don't touch what ain't broken, and you might want to consider new speakers instead of more power.
are your passive crossovers capable of bi amping, if not then you will have to go active with the 5.25, yes bi-amping improves the sound quite a bit, especially in the tweeter region.
What do you mean more than a 100 watts, the set will still get a 100watts! Alot of people think that you hook up a component set that the tweeter gets 50 watts and the 5.25 get 50watts, that is not the case, they are both getting 100 watts as it is. What you are doing is seperating the signal to each speaker when you bi-wire which allows you to get a cleaner signal, which improves the sound.

sorry for being dense here eddie, but i don't think I understand. I have a 4 x 100 watt amp, so if I bi amp, then I get more control (I understand this, I get more HU control alone, plus the amp adjust) and better sound (I don't understand why) and the same power ? I am just a little confused. Here's what Ihave available to me. four channels of 100 watts, two biampable xovers, two 5.25 woofers, and two tweeters. I know that I can run the tweeters as the front channel (My HU has adjustable p, g, and spacial eq for front and rear) and the woofers as the rear, giving me more tunability, but will this be the only gain? is it worth it?
on a related but separate note, should both amp channels be set to the same gain?

if I have xovers (passives that came with the comps), a xover on each set of channels for the amp (front and rear) and a crossover on my HU, how should they all be set?
I have heard about something called cascade, or waterfall effect, from multiple xovers, but I neither know what it is nor how it occors nor how to prevent it. any idea eddie?
