Cool

You could. I just put my 10" kickers in boxes in the trunk. There isn't a decible differance with that passthrough open or closed anyways.

My buddy did a Free Air setup in his gen 3 (now wrecked)
If you dont know, that is when you mount some type of baffle board where the back seats are (you can build to fit behind seat or take up where the back seat was) I think he used 1 1/2" high density fiberboard, carpeted it, modified and cut the pass through seatback/trunk opening to accomadate 2 12s and 2 tweets, sealed up the entire trunk with sound deadening material (like dynamat) you are now using your entire trunk as a speakerbox.
It should be noted though that only certain subs are suitable for this type of application, (check mfg. specs) for example, Pioneer makes a free air sub which handles a little more power and is less sensitive w/ a slightly differnt basket design. 2 of those in his cam pounded hard.

Just finished building a box for this, below are the dimensions and plans for mine. Not drawn to scale, but I included measurements. It worked for me, and I'm happy with the results. So don't sue me if you use it and don't get what you're looking for.

And I'll go ahead and warn you that if you use this plan, nothing is square. You're gonna have to do some custom work, these are just the dimensions of my final product.

That is a small box. But it also depends on the sub. And to Vsixcamry i had two tens on the back seat and 2 twelve in the trunk. You feel a lot of punch and of course but I wouldn't base my sub on the back seat
