installing reciever

umm.. i went ahead and bought a Panansonic reciever so i can alas play cds in my car.

anyways, I figure it wouldn't be too hard to connect some wires. But I'm kinda stuck on step 1: how do i remove the face....plastic thingy... so i can get access to everything.

my friend's car has screws and such. However, my 2001 Corolla only has a face.. that looks like it could be popped off. I was thinking of taking a screw driver to it but thought it'd be best to run it by you guys first.

The dash color trim part pulls out easily, start at the top (you can see a seam around) pull straight out. That will expose 4 screws that allow the exsisting radio and brackets to be removed. If it is a single DIN unit it will bolt right in to the brackets (use the new provided screws)

Get a wiring harness adaptor and wire the new radios harness to it and that will allow you to plug into factory harness directly.

i know this is an old post, but i usually search before i post a thread...and this one directly relates to my problem.

i'm installing a new receiver, and i popped off the black dash. i see the 4 screws, and i removed 2 of them, with a lot of difficulty!

i can't remove the other 2 screws. one just does not want to move, no matter how hard i try to unscrew it. i tried using a small wrench, but still no luck. the other screw is far in, and hard to access. i can only get to it by a screwdriver, and the screws got messed up a bit, from the screwdriver. they just wont budge. any suggestions on how i can loosen up the screws? i dont have that many sophisticated tools. should i put oil on it? if so, what kind? they're not rusted, just hard to move. how did u guys take care of that?

the receiver installation is haulted now haha.

thanx for your help.

You have to be careful, if you strip it out too bad it becomes near impossible to remove.

If you have the option for a socket use that method. A good quality screwdriver will help also.

Oil and such wont help (and may make it worse)

For screw head that can be reached use a good pair if sidecuts to grip into the head and then give a good quick twist to loosen.

Use a 10mm socket with an extension to reach and remove them.
