Anyone know anything about Viper alarms?

My friend just bought an integ that came with a viper alarm. Now the thing is kinda a pain in the ass, it auto sets after like 45 seconds or something ridiculously short. If you get out of the car for even a minute you have to take your keys without and disarm it before you get back in. Know i've heard that these alarms can be 'diffucult'. Anyone know how to adjust any of the settings on these, or if its possible at all?

This is called "pasive arming" easy way to get it changed is to take it to an authorized shop and have them use a "bit writer" on it to change it. It can be donmanualy but that is more of a pain than jsut living with it.

Okay the problem is that she has already taken it to a few dealers. Well first of all no one in our town will service them, so we have to drive to another city, secondly they want a shitload of money for it...

Theres a way to disable it by using your key, valet switch, and remote.

Viper alarms have passive arming and forced passive arming.

I'll see if I can dig up some instructions.

I actually have an older Viper 300ESP alarm, which I bought from Circuit City. I've got passive arming enable, which means it arms itself 30 seconds after it's been disarmed and the interior light cuts off. If you've got a 2-button remote, you can put the system into valet mode by opening a door and pressing left, right, left. Otherwise, Click Here for DEI's manuals.
