Highlander Anti Theft Code?

Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade my sound system this weekend. I have a 2001 Toyota Highlander Limited with the JBL package. I was wondering if there is an anti-theft on the stock head unit and if there is, would I have the code anywhere? or does the dealership NEED to put it in for me? The only code I remember the dealership might have given me was the little keychain thingy that came with my keys. Would that be the code?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The anti-theft feature is actually set by the user, so even if you lose power without setting it, it shouldn't get activated. If that's not that the case, make sure you write down the serial number of the unit so you can get a factory reset code if needed.

I may be wrong, but i've looked in a toyota owners manual (for a '95 previa) and it had a security feature listed in the manual. The default code was also listed in the owners manual.

Try flipping through your owners manual. You may find some info.
