Question 2000 camry: looking 4 stock CD / radio

Hey!

This is my first visit. The CD player died in my stock 2000 camry and it seems the mafia are controlling every aspect of repairs, parts etc. (I'm a geek, so naturallly it seems like a fixable thing to me.) This is the double-DIN unit with single CD, radio and cassette. I am mostly looking for CD and radio.

So, I'm hoping that someone has upgraded and kept the stock radio with a CD player? Anyone? Or has a "slightly dead" unit for parts? Or can tell me where to get "just" the CD module?

OR, can tell me more about what's required to replace the stock unit? For example, is it entirely self contained -- that is, all the power amps are located inside the unit? Are the crossovers active or passive?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

eddie

You'd be better off replacing your OEM CD player for a good aftermarket one.

Check out Eclipse, Pioneer, Alpine...

But if you want to get a factory cd player check out ebay and www.car-part.com

Thanks for the reply and all the links. If car-parts doesn't turn up something, I'll look into the aftermarket items.

Ball park price on the aftermarket stuff?
