Question Scion XM reciever

Does anyone know what type of reciever the Scion - Pioneer head-units use?

Rumor has it all you need to buy is a reciever and antenna. Instead of buying the 450.00 option thats dealer installed, i'd prefer to have BB or CC install the same thing for half that.

I do know the head unit is "XM-ready" and has the button for it. I've even been told the wiring is already run to the back of the car.

Any info?

Contact PIE or Soundgate to see if they make an interface for the Scion that will allow you to pick/choose whatever brand you want. Typically you can even opt for Sirius or XM using their products. Some limitations but with your HU Sat ready, you'll have no problem.

Ok. I found a hookup that changes the input to RCA jacks. They also offered an RCA to XM reciever adaptor... $70 for the first $40 for the second... and thats without control on the head-unit i'm guessing. I dont see how that'd work.

I would like to be able to integrate my Ipod to the audio without an FM modulator.

thanks for your help though

You'll have to see Belkin for that one. Also check out Blitzsafe. They make some interfaces for a variety of receiver models and cars. Not sure if the Scion is one of them though.

It's my first post here, so be gentle!

My new XB has the standard Pioneer HU, which is allegedly XM ready. Does anyone know if it uses the standard Pioneer P-Bus connection as the aftermarket Pioneer HUs, or is it something different?

thanks!

Its a custom HU Pioneer made for Scion. You'll need an adaptor that plugs into the HU, and then plugs into the XM reciever box.
Check out www.discountcarstereo.com - thats where i got my RCA - line imput converter.

XM ready means it can control a reciever thru the HU, but the actual reciever is seperate.

Good luck, hope this helped
