Question ------ remote in???

i bought a streetwires wiring kit to hook my amp to my batt. and head unit. The wire it provided goes into the "remote in" of my head unit. I have a sony xplod head unit and i have no idea where that input is..... what does the remote wire do? is it important?

also...does the amp get plugged into the rear speakers (rca)output of the headunit?

thanks for your help im nearing the completion...

There should be a blue wire coming out of the deck. Thats the remote turn on lead/wire.

This gets wired to the remote turn on, on the amp.

The purpose of this wire is to turn on the amp or processors (x-over, eq, etc..) whenever the deck is on.

Use the rca outputs.

^^^huh, I never thought of that... interesting. Not a big deal for me since my RCA cables have built in remote turn on wires (which is really sweet).

If you connect to the power antenna lead it may not turn on the amps when your HU is in CD mode. Lots of radios don't power the antenna remote when your playing a CD. Make sure you use the regular remote out..

^ true....but from what I've seen, most aftermarket decks are lazy and they always make the antenna go up.....

but if you have a romote out, then use it for sure

^ should be the blue wire then....

where it says remote in, it should be connected to your remote out (if oyu have it on your deck) and if not, then your antenna signal wire (the one that just tells it to go up, not the actual power wire)

i see a wireing harness with a blue wire then an input for a plug ( like headphone plug size, pretty small) which one?

i think you are talking about the blue wire within the wiring harness but how do i go about connecting the remote control wire to the amp. do i simply strip the blue wire's insulation and connect??

Just strip and connect yes. The remote wire hookup coming out of the deck should not be a wire going to something, it should have an end that you can find. You could also just put the wire into your fuse box into a fuse that is live when the car is on.

If a HU does not come with the remote wire, then you should use the antenna wire. It doesn't matter if it's in CD mode or what, it will turn it on.
