I finally got some replacement subs
Well, my Kenwood W3005's were great and lasted me four years, but I had to finally replace them. Why? My asswipe friend decided to turn the volume up too high. Normally, I keep my volume rating at "12" (it's plenty loud). My friend decided to be a dumbass and turn it all the way up to "26" before I could stop him. Massive distortion. These were good subs IMO (I don't care what anybody on TN says), but they're not THAT good. Now they hit much less and the notes are off.
I bought 2 new Infinity References off eBay (1230W) for $140 shipped. Hopefully I'm right at diagnosing the problem at my subs and not my amp (cuz it's a nice amp and I don't want to replace it). I considered Kappa Perfects, but I figured that I'm not an SPL type of guy and the References will be good enough for me.
By the way, in case the problem IS the amp, what's a decent place in the chicagoland area (including suburbs, especially the northern suburbs) to get it fixed? I bought this amp off eBay (Kenwood KAC-X811D) and Kenwood's service centers are nowhere near where I live. Anybody think Circuit City would do a good enough job? I will never ever touch Tweeter again in my life.
I'll post some pics when I get them installed.
