Amp mounting

after seeing the video that eddiem67 put up, i was wondering are there any issues with mounting amps directly onto metal bars?
i've had my amps floating about on a piece of mdf for the past year or so and i was thinking of welding some brackets in the boot area and then fabricating some frames to create an amp rack. does this seem fine? i'll be using stainless steel, mainly because the shop across the road lets me get it off them cheaply.

should the metal and brackets be painted? anything important i should take note of before going ahead with this?

Cheers

Well, I you going to compete, or are you just doing it for yourself, there is no problem mounting to sheetmetal, but bushings between the amp the the plate should be installed (possible vibration issues since your mounting onto metal, what kind of install are you doing , spl or SQ

i'm not going to compete, i'm just doing this so that my install looks nicer, more secure (mdf slides around ) and it also needs to be easy to remove, hence the brackets.

essentially this is just going to be a SQ setup, its not necessary for me to do all this, but as i have access to the materials and tools to make it i thought i might aswell.

and my car will never see a competition, i'm not really that driven towards them. i moreso just want to be able to have a nice sound setup when i'm driving, and knowing its secure back there.
