if they're already resistored, then they're ready to go with just a current

its when people don't know that they need resistors that they have problems

well, I still do need advice for the switch. do I just run all the + to one post and all the neg to the other. do I ground the led's to the switch neg, or to the chassis

ahhh....

basically, just ground the leds to the chassis or somewhere, and then splice the power line from somewhere, and run the switch in the middle of the positive wire

the switch will be used just to break the current

if the switch you got also has a negative on it, it's usually just for the led that is installed into the switch, and NOT to be used as a grounding point for the rest of your lights....in fact, it won't work beacuse then nothing would be grounded

A spst (single pole single throw (2 prong)) switch will work just fine.

Wire all the leds in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative).

Positive to +12V (constant or switched).

Negative to ground (chassis).

The switch goes in series with the power wire (positive).

Heres a schematic that I drew up:

spdt (single pole double throw) (3 prong)) switch:

If you use a spdt switch. Use the center terminal and one of the outer terminals, like in the pic above.
