Adding keyless entry/alarm to 2005 Tacoma?

Hi from a newbie...

I just got a 2005 Tacoma. Regular cab 2X4 which you can pretty much only get with A/C.

Will it be possible to get the manual door locks converted to power as part of an alarm package and thus have keyless entry? I wouldn't be doing this DIY.

Almost as important, though, is should I? Is this a reasonable solution? Warranty issues?

Kind of hard to go from a 1999 A4 to an old-fashioned manual everything...

...but that's what I wanted...

Yep its simple to do, all you have to do is install actuators(sp?) up to the door lock relays on an alarm and voa'la pwr door locks.

Turns out you can't...

at least very easily.

They have changed the door lock system to a cable system.
Nobody seems to know how to do that yet.

Anyone?

Not quite.

The door lock/unlock outputs on a alarm are low current outputs. Their used to drive a relay which then drives the actuator.

There is no relay on the alarm for door lock/unlock. You need to wire up a external relay.

The 2005 is different than previous models...

The 2005 does use an actuator but that isn't the preoblem for converting from manual locks.

The actuator is enclosed in a plastic unit and isn't out in the open like other cable drived lock systems (this according to my installer).

None of the kits to-date will work. Bummer as I thought it would be pretty straightforward to get keyless entry added aftermarket to the basic regular cab 2005 Tacoma.

Thoughts?
