I just finished biamping my component sets and now I cannot turn the volume up past 18 or 20 without the music stopping. It continues, ie the track is still advancing, it comes in intermittantly and come back when It's turned lower. What happened? All I did was run additional wires to each crossover, connected then to my rear channels on my 4 channel amp, and viola, something is majorly fcuked. I set the gain on the rear outputs to the same as the fronts, the xover on the amp is set to 90, hp, aand the weird thing is, while i was doing the install, I tested the left speaker and it worked, no problem. Now even if I turn the crossovers back to single imput mode, they still shut off with the increased volume. Ovbiously this is extremely troubling and I need to fix it stat. Please help....
I don't know what else anyone might need to know to help, but..
speakers
Polk MOMO 5250 new, about two months old
amp
Kicker kx800.4 ...and I cannot see the red LED, but I don't think the amp is going into protect mode as it still makes intermittant sound as I mentioned
ps everything was fully opperational yesterday.
thanks in advance
oh and I usually can take the volume up to 28 before i get any distortion

there is no distortion, the sound stops at mid volume. thats all. the crossover and amp are ice cold. I have them both climate controled, and checked by hand. And I don't see an LED for protect, and the amp is not doing any more work than it was before, still 100x4?

Sounds like you got quality products but maybe your wiring needs to be checked. I guess I'd probably check to see if the amp is going to protect, watch the amp for the red LED when the system is running. It is possible you ran too thin wire and your amp is trying to draw too much current and shutting off momentarily.

I got it all figured out...the switch on the crossover wasn't enguaging when i flipped it. so the effect was the same as not cutting the jumpers. I cleaned out the switch terminals, resoldered the contacts and click, system works fine again.
The tuning of the system is off now. I expected more sound, not I have a hole in my midbass, lower midrange. very curious, I haven't had the time to adjust it out much, but it should be managable. is this unusual?
thanks for the help all

what head unit are you running, check the highpass crossover settings on the amp, all other setting should be off on the amp except the highpass on the midbass side
