I just isntalled two Infinity Kappa Perfect 12s (350W RMS, 1400W Peak) and an infinity 1200W amp. I have a 1.2 farad cap which is hooked up. I still have factory speakers until this weekend. With my old, less powerful system, I could crank it up more than i could now...the subs are still louder but if i turn the volume up or the bass up on my headunit, the song will clip out for a short second, as if the CD was skipping or something. if the speakers are clipping out, would that make the subs or amp clip out as well? theyre clipping out sooner than my factory speakers were clipping out before i installed this system...and i have that capacitor too so i thought that would help....any ideas? thanks guys!
might wanna tinker w/ the amp settings. A new battery like the Optima is good those type of set ups it supplies a lot of power and won't drain as much.
what is the amp rating rms and impedance, how are you running the subs, need more information, impedance of each sub, impedance of amp when bridged and what is the rms output bridged (not max)

Not sure what the amp RMS rating is...i havent found that information anywhere. its 1200W Peak, and 1516W Peak at 2ohms (which is how im running it)
i have two 12" subs...both are single voice coil. i have the subs bridged on the amp, so its running 2ohms. Subs are 350W RMS each.
-------------------
After I get in a wreck my CD player would start to skip occasionally, especially in cold temperatures. I'm thinking that maybe the vibration from the subs is causing my cd player to skip, because when i hold it still it doesnt do it....this sound like a possibility?
Can't you look on the Infinity amp somewhere and find out the model number? What size are the fuses on the amp? How many are there?
Your CD player's skipping is more likely due to the accident, since some of the impact had transferred to the headunit, since it's installed with the frame/body. The laser alignment has been knocked around enough to skip. Your body is the shock absorber, of course it's not going to skip.
the model number for the amp is REF1210A. it has three 40A fuses in the amp, and the fuse near the battery is a 120A ANL Fuse.
the reason i ask about the radio is because when the amp/subs/speakers clip, they all clip at the same time, so it appears to stem back either to the radio or to the power supply...but i shouldnt have any trouble with power because the capacitor is installed and reading 12V. When I hold tightly onto the radio it doesnt clip, which is why i thought maybe the rattling of the radio is causing it to skip. does that sound plausible?
First of all are you running a stock deck or an aftermarket, and if so, what model.
Next, turn the boost all the way down, set the gain at min trying running it like this, if you have an aftermarket radio, set the gain about 1/4 turn, that should keep you from clipping the sub. Also make sure you subs are single 4ohm or dual 2ohm voice coil(s) each. and are wired correctly.
oh, I just read your last post, sound like you have a cheap radio, and the bass is making the cd jump and skip, either remount it or upgrade to a better radio (Alpine or Eclipse)
