stock alarms can kiss my...patootie

soo i decidedly hate stock alarms...mine felt like wigging out last night. all. night. long.

i'm going to have it removed, but i want SOMETHING to replace it. i'd rather have one of the nifty alarms with the two way remote...but i really don't know much about alarms aside from what brands are good.

money isn't a HUGE issue, aside from avoiding something astronomically expensive...so tell me what's good. i'd like to stay between spending $150 and $300 for the unit(not incl install).

heh...anyone care to help me out here?

You should get one of the viper alarms I think they use on Pimp my ride with the remote start. I think this is the link to the company that makes them http://www.directed.com/security/viper/default.asp

Sharky - wouldn't know about what's on Pimp my ride...don't watch TV. i know ther'es a Viper/Clifford/DEI alarm that's got the two-way remote, which i do like...but i'm not sure if i want that one.

there's another brand...the name of which i can't remember off the top of my head...that was recommended to me as THE best out there.

i just wish i could remember...lol.

porkchop - i have to disagree with you...maybe the lowest level viper will go off regularly, but the higher level ones don't.

What are you looking for in an alarm?

If you just want basic protection without a bunch of extra features (remote start, 2 way, etc..), the base model (350 HV) will do. It goes for about $200 which includes installation.

http://www.directed.com/security/viper/viper_esp.asp

The other features can be added on later if you want them. You just need to buy the add on modules for it.

Otherwise look into the led 2 way or responder if you want remote start and 2 way.

Thats due to faulty installation or dumbasses who crank the shock sensor sensitivity up to high.

I've installed plenty of Viper alarms from the base model to the top of line model. No problems if its installed correctly.
