Memphis makes a small 1500 I believe. Not sure how hot it gets, especially for 1500w under a seat. I'll think about it.

Do you know how much room you have? Memphis makes the smallest amp of that size that I can think of, but you might be able to fit another amp in there if you can let me know how much room you have. Don't forget, the amp needs to vent, so you don't want to cram an amp under your seat. Heat rises and the seat will just trap it all. This is no good for the amp.

i got about a foot front to back, and side to side and about 2 inches of thickness....yeh i accounted for the heat, that would give it room to breathe, plus i would have a small fan blowing across it.

The Memphis 1000D is 16.5"l x 6.5"w x 2"h

I think their older line is even smaller, but slightly higher. I'm trying to think dude, hopefully someone else will find this thread and save me.

waiiit. shit dude.

What model subs do you have? I assumed you were looking for a 1000RMS @ 1 ohm.

Give me the model number on your subs.

You can run them off 1 channel, but the subs have to be wired in series or parallel.

Series = 8 ohms.

Parallel = 2 ohms.

Another option is to use a 2 channel amp and run one sub on each channel.

I didn't want to tell him anything because I'm not sure if he really knows what impedance his subs are. A lot of people don't know the difference between single and dual voice coils. And I'm guessing he has 2 500watt max Sony subs. Shit I fucked up. Shoulda asked from the start.

Sorry for the confusion 96toyot100.

Thats true.

My explanation above is for 4 ohm svc (single voice coil) subs.

DVC gets a little more complicated.

Ok dude, your sub is SVC 4 ohm and Sony claims it can handle 300RMS. Problem with that figure is that it's overrated. If you go with a sony amp you can send it what they claim to be 300RMS, but if you buy an amp that isn't overrated you'll be overpowering your speakers. This may not be a bad thing if you're experienced, but it could be depending on the amp.

You need an amp that can put out roughly 500-600RMS into 2 ohm or a two-channel amp that can put out 250-300RMS @ 4ohm per channel.

Since you didn't spend a lot on your subs I'd recommend a low end amp such as kenwood, pioneer, HiFonics, etc.

Some amps to look into (I'll update as I find more):
HiFonics ZX6400 ... might be a bit expensive

HiFonics BX1000D... still might a bit too expensive.

Series
----------

1. Take the positive off sub #1 and wire it to negative of sub #2.

2. The negative terminal on sub #1 and the positive terminal on sub #2 get wired to the amp. In other words the 2 terminals that are left over get wired to the amp.

Parallel
----------

1. Positive on sub #1 to positive on sub #2.

2. Negative on sub #1 to negative on sub #2.

Run your subs in parallel, this will give you a 2 ohm load, your can easily run a JL 500/1 or if you want better go with a DLS A3 amp, easy to hook up for under the seat installs.
