Don't you have the double-locking trunk feature? If not you could take out the trunk release lever and just open it the old skool way--using your key.

thanks, thought it over, not planning to get a system anymore,
too much trouble and expensive especially when i dont know how to wire it and stuff
more cons than pros for a system for me
not worth my investment i guess..
but that is a good idea

If you drive a lot, I personally think a system is one of the best upgrades possible. Even just a single smallish sub will give you some good bass and make it sound a lot better. I guess it depends on the music you listen to, how loud you listen to it, and money. They're really not hard to wire up at all. Don't let that discourage you. I hooked mine up without any previous knowledge in about an hour with directions that were in the amp wiring kit.

About security..... best I could think of is get some type of car alarm and don't have stickers of expensive audio brands on your car.

ractive,

You don't have to buy an expensive system. A small one will do fine especially if you like to listen to it and enjoy yourself and the car at the same time. Yes get an alarm, or make your car stealthy but not that it's obvious.

Or get one that has security features built in like an Eclipse head unit, or removable faces, etc.

what does the eclipse HU have on it?

eh.. how about you just get a 8 inch sub and a mini amp. thats what i want to do.

But see first off i gotta get a HU and all 4 speakers inside the car done. then maybe i'll drop in the 8 in sub and amp. which ever i can find for cheap.

security for you trunk isn't much. I mean its so open and what not. anyone can crack your driver side and pull the lever or go into the back seats and pry it out. or hell i've seen them try to jimmy the lock on my mom's rolla but they dont have anything.

bowlofturtle,

The Eclipse HU (not the Mitsu Eclipse, an Eclipse brand) has an ESN feature that provides a disabling feature should the unit be stolen and will not activate unless a specific CD Key is inserted, much like a PIN code.

Any type of audio equipment is not exactly an investment... buying stock/RSVP is though...

I was going to say disable your trunk keyhole, lock the foldable seats and just use the trunk module from your car remote.
