I currently have two 15 inch kicker comp vr's in the trunk, i have one mtx 8000 12 that was destined for my girlfriend's car, but never found it's home, would I have any increased sq by switching from my current setup (2 15's in 2.0cubes (each) getting 600 watts at 1 ohm from a directed 600d, the old, good model) or go to the one mtx, it'd be going into a sealed f/g enclosure, any size, has not been built yet, and recieving 400 watts at 2 ohms. I anticpate the loss of spl, but since recieving so many tickets, I rarely turn 'em up any more, soooo. what do you think?

Yeah noise tends to be too loud for ol' people. I got a ticket for that same think, I had 2 12" Rockford Fosgates in a band pass box w/ a Koiler amp. The bass was on -neg. on the head unit and less than halfway on the amp.. I didn't even have the bass boost on. I still got stung for it though, it was in a Hyundai Accent by the way 2-door. It had soooo much bass i also got a back massage at the same time.
the fifteens are still in their sealed box. each is in a little more than 2 cubes w/o displacement. I really just want to get opinions on the, if any, changes I could expect SQ wise, going from two subs to one. and If I were to go to one sub, the 15 inch Kicker compvr, or the 12 inch MTX 8000.
I was also wondering if it is possible to build a f/g enclosure and port it. I figure the only way is to buid it to an approximate volume, slightly larger than recommended, fill the inside until it is at the exact volume, and then put the port on the outside. I know the real challenge would be to keep it from looking extremely retarded any thoughts eddie?

You will definetly lose SPL by 6dbs, that is alot. The 12 will maintain the SQ, I just dont like MTX subs. You will lose the lowend as well. So jazz, classical, rock will sound very good but rap will not be as loud. What are the parameters of the mtx 8000

I am slightly confused about yor comment, you say I'll lose low end, is this guarenteed, I have heard single twelves hit real low, down to at least 23 hz, so why couldn't the MTX do that? also you think jazz and classical will sound good, I tend to think of them as particularly dependent on the lower end. perhaps it's ust the bass head in me.
do you recommend just running one of the Kickers instead.
The bottom line is, there is nothing wrong with the current system, it sounds great. I just recognize that it is perhaps overkill, and certainly not being pushe dto anywhere near potential, sooooo if I can reclaim some trunk space for only the cost (and fun building ) a new enclosure, without too great a loss, I would like to consider it.
as always all your thoughts are welcome and helpful, keep em coming please.

If anything I'd drop one of the Comp VR's, but I've never been a big fan of MTX subs. The T9500 series looks promising, but I havent gotten a chance to listen to any of them yet.
