Portable DVD player audio thru car?

Ok I just got one of those portable dvd players with a 7" monitor and got to thinking. Could I play the audio through my car stereo and watch the dvds in my car? It did come with RCA plugs that connect to it, to I guess watch on a bigger tv if you wanted to. I think my Alpine headunit has some type of aux jacks in the back of it. Is this possible to do?

If your head unit has the correct aux. input jack, all you need is a cable.

One end of the cable plugs into your head unit. The other end to the headphone or line out (if it has a line out) jack on your dvd player.

This is the cable you need:

I believe you need the Alpine Ai-Net or M-bus to RCA adapter in order to get sound through the radio, since you need to tell the headunit that you have another source.

^^^yea I broke out the manual for my headunit and read up about it. It says I need 1 of 2 things.

This for $14.99

or this for $149.99

needless to say if I decide to try this i'm going with the $15 adapter.

The audio line adapter cable came yesterday. It took me about 20 min to set the whole thing up because of a stripped screw head. Now I offically have a (ghetto) DVD player in my car. But it's better then nothing.
