96 avalon hardwiring

I know its bad to hard wire the stock wires to my head unit, but it seems like there are no harness' on the market that sells it. So i unplugged the two plugs from the factory amp, I noticed there are 2 brown wires and 2 white with blue stripe wires, what are these? It seems I cant find the power and ground wires too. Someone please help me out!!!!!! thx...........

Oh but there is a harness. Goto Circuit City, though should have it.

Hi everyone I just bought it and it still doesnt fit the harness. Is it because I have the premium 6spkr system? Does that have anything to do with it? Seems like this is the most confusing radio installation I have ever come upon to....Please give me feedback on what to do Thanks

1995 Avalon XLS with Premium Speaker System

Hey Redboi,

If your stock system is anything like mine... the 15/16 pin Premium sound adapter should work as posted here in this forum. I have a stock 7 speaker premium factory sound system in my 1995 avalon XLS. It consists of two front tweaters, two front speakers, two rear speakers, and a rear deck mounted subwoofer with an external factory amp under the glove box.

The premium adapter is a female plug. I unplugged the 2 connectors from the factory stereo and one of them plugged directly into the sound adapter.

Take a look at this adapter: (this was what i used)
http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/TO...SS_p_1334.html

and look at your factory wiring harness.

When the rain stops, ill try to snap pics.

From the Premium Metra Sound Adapter Wiring Harness:

You will use the Front Preout and Rear Preout from your new aftermarket stereo (The Metra Premium wiring harness has RCA cables that will plug right into your after market deck preouts).

Color:------ Function
Gray ------- Right Front
White ------ Left Front
Purple ------ Right Rear
Green ------ Left Rear

All thats left from the Metra Premium Harness is:

Color: ------ Fuction:
Black-------- Ground
Yellow------- Battery/Memory
Red---------- Ignition/ACC
Blue---------- Power Antenna
Blue White--- Amplifier Turn on Remote Wire

Hook these badboys up to the wires coming out of your aftermarket deck and youre good to go. It's still raining over here... so pics will have to wait.

if the Metra harness he got wont fit, how will this help? those arent the factory colors, they are the colors that the harness uses to match with the colors aftermarket decks usually use

Even when you find an adapter that might fit that Avalon, there is no wiring harness meant for use in that car.

a) All avalons came with an external amp, even the most basic factory system had a 170 watt amp. Therefore there is no bypass circuit as there is in any Toyota that has a stereo option with no external amp.

b) The wires running from the factory headunit to the amp are of a very high gauge, and therefore cannot handle the output of an aftermarket headunit without severly reducing sound quality and the risk of fire. In fact, the factory wires are shielded, because they are designed to carry such a low current.

The ONLY way to do it properly is to splice into the wires on the output side of the amplifier which is up under the glove box. And yes, it is a pain to do.
