Will this later result in a blown speaker?

I was trying to install my new speakers, and I kinda scratched them a bit. There is a surface scratch on the rubber part between the metal cone and the plastic housing. It's not all the way through, and you can't see light through it, so I know its not a hole, but I'm afraid it will develop into something bigger later and I'll end up with a blown speaker. Should I patch it up with something or should I not worry about it.

Don't know if you can see it in this pic, I used macro and tried to focus in as much as possible but it still blurry.

Is it a scratch(cut) or scuff(aesthetic)?

^Kinda both I guess. You know, it's like a scratch in the rubber but not a hole all the way through.

But yeah, "don't worry about it" is what I was thinking. I'm just paranoid cause these are my first speakers, and my stock ones got blown because of holes in that same place. Of course it wasn't rubber, it was made out of like cloth or paper.

So yeah, thanks.

NO. The surround is completely seperate of whether or not the speaker is blown. A speaker being blown has to do with the voice coil being burnt or otherwise damaged. A surround just allows the cone to move and makes it so air doesn't move from around the cone so it can displace more air. I've seen old speakers with disintegrated surrounds that still work, not the best but they worked none the less.

Oh alright, then I had a misconception of what a blown speaker is.

Thanks for clarifying. They did have a disintegrated surround but still worked. Made awful farting noises with a lot of bass though.

So a blown speaker is one will not play anything at all since the coil would be messed up?
