what kinda amp do i need?

the other day i decided my stock audio system was crap so i just bought some sony xplod 6.5s theyre okay nothing special i dont wanna put too much money into this i still have the stock headunit (for now) so when i get a new headunit should i see a bigger difference in sound quality cause right now i dont anyway now i would like to get some subs 12s to be specific im stuck between infinity and audiobahn do you guys have any preferance on either one? and what should i look for in an amp in order to power either one of these? i am planning on only one sub but i would like an amp that is capable of powering two in case i ever change my mind later. keep in mind im not looking for top of the line amps since my subs obviously arent that great. i just want decency. thanx for any input!

well as far as the subs i would go with MA Audio its a good sub cost u around $100 most, as for the amp mmm .... u might want to spend a lil money on a amp it will be worth it in the long run, if u want it used i would go rockford fosgate try to get a big namebrand something u know that been around stay away from them $50 ebay amps cuz u do get what u pay for

Between Infinity and Audiobahn, its all personal preference - both are good brand names. In my opinion, infinity has a much clearer and cleaner bass sound, without as much distortion. Audiobahn, however, is typically more powerful. Infinity Reference subs are good though - they are $100 retail for 12", and they hold 350 watts continuous, and 1400 peak and sound very clean. thats my two cents about subs.

for an amp, i agree that should be a decent investment in order to be satisfied. If you get single voil coil subs, i would recommend a mono (1-channel) amp. this will allow you to easily hook up one sub or two while still pushing the same amount of power with two subs through parallel wiring. if the subs are dual voice coil, i'd recommend a two-channel amp.

yeah well thanx for the input but the reason i was asking about the two subs was b/c they were on sale at CC but i went there and totaled the whole cost with the box amp subs wires etc to be over 950 so i said eff that. im going to my cousins roomates place to get hooked up with some memphis 12s and box wires etc for about 300 flat. is this a good deal? normally he said itd be around 650 but for me, 300...

you can get an Adire Brahma and a PG Tantrum 1200.1 for about 700 bones, that will for blur your vision, or you can step down the sub to an Adire Shiva and a ED Amp, for around 300-350, still will pound.

It sounds like a good deal to me. I think memphis is decent, theres a audio shop in town that sells them. My friend has a memphis 12 in his 3000GT and it sounds decent. He was more satisfied with his Eclipse.

Good luck with whatever you do, an upgraded system is worth the money.

I suggest you go with an alpine head unit, best head unit company i and many others would agree.

Memphis are decent subs but you should a amp wit that because thats the most important thing and plus the most expense thing usally. Its a good deal if he adds amp for same price if not hes just screwing you still.
