subs are sliding

i gotta deal for 300 bucks for two 12s -they gave me xplods but said if im not satisfied i can exchange them for memphis kickers audiobahn or mtx no charge- and a box etc they mounted the amp behind the sub so the sub was like pushed up towards the front of the trunk so i unmounted the amp and moved the subs back figuring the weight would keep them in place while driving. turns out i was wrong. the subs seem to be sliding foward and to the right no matter how careful i drive. do i mount the box or what?

You could tie down the box in the trunk, or fit a piece of wood to the floor and attach brackets to the box and floor. I had that problem and was using a piece of wood in the opening for the back seats/trunk as an amp rack. Took my box and 2 extra piece of metal, drilled holes, and no more moving box.

I'd trade them in for some kickers if possible. Xplods would be the last choice out of those brands.

First trade up the subs. The xplods are the worst ones out of those you mentioned. Then make some 90 degree brackets and stick them in there.

To hold down my boxes I used a cargo net from my trooper and just got some hooks and strapped that bitch down.

as for trading the xplods for kickers i might cause my friend has 2 memphis 12s and i put my xplods up against his and mine hit way harder and get this i have the stock head unit still with no preamps so i had to use an adapter. and from what i understand memphis is one of the top brands right under kickers so im pretty satisfied with the xplods. especially with the price.

first off, trading the subs really wont make much of a difference. its all gonna sound like boomy crap with that bandpass box your using. get a sealed or ported box if you want some decent sounding bass. what models for each sub are they offering you for trade?

the easiest mounting solution without getting crazy is to go to a hardware store and get some of those metal corner protectors. the ones that are used to keep wooden cabinets (like speakers, etc.) from getting the corners all beat up and splintered. just mount them to the trunk floor so that the corners of the sub box fit down into them and it will keep it from sliding backwards. it will be sandwiched between the rear seat back and the corner mounts. and if you need to, you can take the box out pretty easy by lifting it up over the corners protectors otherwise, just make some L brackets and attach on side to the box and the other to the trunk floor

Sony is garbage. I'd get kickers out of those brands too, but I wouldn't be using a bandpass box. Sealed or ported only, depending on what you're trying to do.

Bandpass is what you have, it's typically louder but usually sounds like crap. Sealed is just that, sealed, no vent or ports. Sealed is typically better for sound quality, accuracy, tight bass. Ported uses either tubed ports or sloted vents. Ported is typically louder and still retains alot of sound quality.

sealed

Slot ported

Do a search, people have talked about the differences before. But basically, sealed sounds the best IMO

Just get creative and you can figure out a way to stop the box from sliding.
