Cool New Sienna

I recently purchased a new '05 Sienna. We're very happy with it, but did not get an alarm at the dealer. We found out today one of our neighbor's Infinity was stolen from his driveway. Now I know our Sienna may not be as "sexy" as an Infinity or Lexus, but we now want the alarm.
I would like to hear opinions on 1). go get one installed at the dealer? 2). What are good alternatives? What do "good" systems run?
Thank you in advance.

You actually made a smart decision by not getting the dealer installed alarm. When I worked at Toyota the alarm was a mediocre unit that cost the dealer around 50 bucks and another 50 to install it, yet they charge you 695 for it.

Generally Viper alarms are the best out there. There is alot of different options available.

Check out the different functions and see which one is right for you.

I think (correct me if I am wrong) that all new Toyotas now come with engine immobilizers. Check you manual to be sure. It means they can't start the car with out the keys, no hotwire or anything, but they will still be able to take parts. To my knowledged, most cars with EI have been stolen because theives got a hold of the keys, and not because they bypassed EI.

What model & yr was your neighbor's stolen car?

Thank you ntran and cam. I appreciate your responses.
I'm glad to hear about the dealer alarm. That's exactly what they wanted for it; $695.00. I've heard Viper is good.
I'm also glad to hear about the engine not coming on without a key. I'll take a look at my manual and cross my fingers.
I don't know the model of the Infiniti, but it couldn't have been more than a few years old; 2000 maybe.
I'll start looking for an alarm. Thanks.
