Question Amplifier mounting recommendations for 2001 Camry LE

I have a Clarion amp that I will have professionally installed today (bought it from Crutchfield) and want to hear from owners that have had an similarly-sized amp installed in the trunk of a Camry LE (same model year or, if different, roughly the same trunk layout). The amp is about 11" x 13".

Three questions:
1) If mounted in the trunk, what is the best way to mount the amp, i.e., somewhere on the sides of the trunk with the fins oriented vertically OR laying flat in a corner area? The former is preferred but I can't find an area that looks like it is well suited for it, i.e., I don't see any flat surfaces that would handle the 11" x 13" "footprint". The latter would be easy but is less desireable since it takes up valuable trunk space.

2) If I had it mounted vertically, wouldn't it be necessary to have the installer use some kind of special hardware/platform to hold the unit?

3) Is mounting the unit under the seat as good (maybe even the preferred) option?

Thanks for any advise you can give.

Chris

I would mount it the rear part of the backseat. You'll only need a few screws.

I mounted my amp under my seat. That isn't too good if you have a cheap amp that gets hot quickly and need lots of breathing room, but it does save you on the lenght of power wire you need. I like it better when mounted somewhere else though. In my trooper I have it mounted on the back of the seat. I screwed on the amp to to pieces of compressed wood, so it looks somewat like a helicopter (if you get the picture). Then I mounted the compressed wood onto the seat.

Wink '01 amp mounting recommendations...

Thanks for your recommendations. I will consult with the installer to figure out which approach works best.
