Exclamation Looking at amps for sub set up.. Confused???

ok so heres my problem... i would like to purchase 2 of these 10" subs (Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1), they are supposidly very good subs and i can get them for a very cheap price.. but hes is the problem.. what sort of amp should i run to it..

The site says it uses a 4ohm load but for 2 of them does this change or stand constant no matter what set up u choose.. also the RMS is 350 each on the subs and i want the power them fully on RMS readings...

What amp do u think i could use to power these, brand and wattage wise.. i dont want a crap brand.. and i also dont want to run any less then 350 watts if i dont have to.. im willing to spend a few in the process if nessicary..

It also indicates on Sounddomain that i should be able to use a 2 ohm stable mono amp.. but even then im confused as to how i would wire it..

Im not in dire need of help here considering i havent acctually bought them, but if someone could guide me in the right direction as to how to wire and set up a system like this, it would be greatly appreciated..

oo by the way P.S. would getting the VQ version make any difference to well.. anything.. i read the statz... and there identical aside from the VQ, and somewhere i read that its allows u to aujust the sub better to a certain load or something..?... fill me in on that too if u know.. or if those would be a better buy over the 10.1's

Again P.S.P.S. would a 12" be any better.. just asking.. i can get them for like 10 more bucks

Those subs are pretty good, they're known for good sound quality. I'd go for 12's if they're only 10 bucks difference. And they're rated for 50 more watts. Have you tried the subwoofer wiring guide that sounddomain provides?

Important: Do not implement any wiring scheme not seen here, including but not limited to series connections between drivers. For more information on why, please consult the DVC FAQ.

How much exactly do you want to spend on an amp?

The nine.1 from Elemental Designs will send more that enough power to them.

THe DLS A6 would be a good choice.

The DLS sell in the low 400's.

How much are you getting the subs for?

The Perfects can take more than their 350w RMS rating... It'd actually be safe to give them 500w if not more in a sealed enclosure.

The VQs are probably better if you're going with either an overly large sealed, ported or bandpass box. If you're using it in the recommeneded application, then I'd say save your money.

I just got the 12s in last week and my amp is coming in tomorrow, then I need to start building shit but after all is said and done it should be nice.

BTW what's this good price that you're getting yours for? I'll bet you I've got that beat :P

10.1 are 4 ohms and 10.1d are dual 4 ohms.

With 2 Dual 4 ohm subs you can either wire them at 1 ohm final load or 4 ohm final load.

With 2 single 4 ohm subs you can only wire them to get 2 ohm final load.

I got 2 perfect 12s for $170 shipped to my door. 10s would probably have been a little less. And that's straight from Infinity.

hey so about this little deal again...

what exactly does the box connectors have to be like to run this correctly.. i know i need it to be a 2 ohm load amp.. but what would the connectors look like and how would u hook that up.. the diagram above shows how to wire it without the box but.. how would i go about wiring it with a box setup.. i was thinking of asking the guy cam2xrunner was proposing to someone else in a post who makes boxes.. if his prices dont run to high i would like to get one from him but like i said.. dont know how i should have box connectors for this setup.. can anyone help me out with this.. show me how exactly i would set this up with a mono 2 ohm amp

oo P.S. so if i wanna run 450 watts to each i need a 900 x 1 at 2 ohms?

Thanks in advance

i can tell u either work at circuit city or have a friend who works at circuit city, because i do and we get those real cheap, and get the 12's for 10 bucks more than the 10s. i have the kappy perfect 12's (2 of them). i would definitely go for the 12s over the 10s. i havent taken the time to read every post on this thread so i may be repetitive here, but if you bridge the subs of the amp you will present a 2ohms load. on my kappa perfect 12's i'm running the MTX MXA8001 amp. it pushes 867 Watts RMS, so a total of 433 Watts RMS to each sub. this is slightly higher than the sub's RMS rating (350), and it sounds great.

to answer ur questin in ur last post, Yes. if u want 450 to each sub, u need 900 x 1 at 2ohms. when comparing amps, only look at RMS Wattage when running on 1 channel at 2ohms. An amp that runs 800-900Watts RMS would be ideal in my opinion.

p.s. assuming u do work at circuit city like im guessing from ur posts, you can get MTX amps for like 70% off....

oo man i wish there was a circuit city here.. otherwise i would be working there.. lol man i want a 70% discount.. but really i understand the concept of the RMS and how much it needs and such i just mainly was confused as to how to wire it to a box.. since the diagrams only show it wired out of one.. but im glad u gave me that info on the amp ur running with them.. i was thinking of running somewhere around what u are but.. there always really expensive or there not the right watts.. i havent really found a good name brand one that will work..im not really looking forward to spending like 400 dollars for one.. 300 tops.. and that would be pushing it.. if u have any sudjestions let me know..
also.. my brother owns 2 10" MTX 6000's and has an Mtx amp putting the right amount of watts RMS.. but heres the thing..
he claims that me getting those 2 12's infinities will be way to strong and says that his are way powerful and that i need nothing more powerful than that to satisfy my needs.. but ive heard so many good things about these subs.. and i can get them for somewhat cheap so i wanna get in on this deal.. do u think u subs are really loud to where it would be a burden more than a gain.. weather this is true or not i still hope to acquire them.. i just thought id ask on opinion since u have themm.. let me know.. Thanks

oo also one more thing.. what kind of box did u put yours in..?
