does cold weather have any affect on sound systems if so what are they and what could be the damaging outcome

Yea it does, the cold air stiffens the speaker cones, and esp affects subwoofers. It is recommended that you play your system at a midrange level until the car warms the speakers.

It affects LCD displays (liquid crystal), the liquid freezes so the display does not show properly. Also, sometimes my CD player will skip when it's really cold out.

yeah, the other day it was so cold that my nav screen didnt turn on till the car warmed up. I also seem to be getting some engine noise over the speakers when the amps are chilled to beow freezing.
