I just installed a Sony CDX-M8805X. I've never done an install before, but it was pretty straightforward. I did the harness and then I did the plug and play. Afterwards, it powered up and worked properly, my music was even playing. So I get out of the car to clean up and when I get back in, the unit face was off. I couldn't turn it back on, but the open close and eject cd buttons all worked. The face just wouldn't turn on, nor the unit. I checked fuses, they all seemed in order.
I figured it was the line that turns the unit on when the ignition is on. I'll check that later.
But the shady part is that I tried hooking my stock stereo back up and that didn't turn on either. A little worried now, but I'm hoping any of you could help me out a bit.
Jeez, alright, so I changed it up so that the deck has constant power so I just have to turn it off manually every time I get out, but NOW...
my clock does not work when I turn my car on and my AC on switch doesn't work either. I figure it has something to do with the ignition wire, but all other lights work, fresh outside air AND the rear defoggers.

Any ideas anyone?
there is a fuse blown, check the cig lighter, its prolly out too.
I did that one too instaling my deck
You were right about the cig lighter, it might just be a blown fuse afterall.
Do you think that if I put in a new fuse, the ignition wire to my deck would work? My deck is stupid so I have to open it and press the source button to turn it on everytime.
No, I disconnected and only reconnected after everything was plugged in. And after that it worked for that two or so minutes.
It's nice that I hear a fuse might be blown. I drive an 05 Corolla, do you have any idea which fuse it might be?
not sure about the locations of the fuses but in my 01 it was one in the drivers compartment just left of the steering wheel. it will tell you which fuse in the owners manual
Did you connect the illumination wire from the deck to the dimmer wire on the harness by mistake? That could short out the clock and cigarette light. If not, perhaps that wire from the harness adapter is touching metal somewhere behind the radio.
It was a fuse and it turns out there was a back page to the fuse diagrams that I missed. I checked all the ones labeled radio first. Either way, I found the blown one and got it replaced. Then I redid the wiring work and in the meanwhile cut myself pretty badly with my knife when I was opening a box of new connectors.
Either way, thanks a bunch to everybody. I almost felt like bringing it in to get it checked out because of this. Thanks.
