iPod interface for Taco 2005

Anyone here installed an iPod interface for 2005 Tacoma? I like to put one, but I am not sure how to do it?

For compatibility list visit this site: http://peripheralelectronics.com/iPod2car/list.shtml
Alpine carries one for their high-end models (Alpine only). I don’t want to replace my in-dash stereo yet; all I need is to hard wire it so I will be able to control my iPod from the CD controllers or buttons. I need to know how to get to the back of the radio or stereo system so I can connect the peripheral.

if u have an aftermarket head unit, u can get a cable for your ipod that has RCA outs and if the aftermarket headunit has RCA in (most good aftermarket headunits do) u can connect it there, but it wont charge it or anything, im planning to do this once i get an ipod cause i already have a aftermarket headunit and it has RCA in so all i need is the ipod and RCA wires

Actually for the 2005 Tacoma, it’s the built-in factory car system with CD. How can I access to the back of the stereo? Thanks

Wrong! What you'll get is a summed output from the iPod and whatever source you are listening to. You need to get an adapter that typically converts the changer port of OEM or aftermarket headunits to RCA, then select the source independently.

Check out PIE or Blitzsafe for an OEM changer port to RCA (aka Aux) adapter. As far as accessing the back of the radio, you'll have to be brave and start pulling some panels.

thanks again for the info! i think PIE is a excellent solutions to connect any device with RCA connector or adaptor. only work for single CD changer unit though, i.e. on 2005 Taco. its temporarily out of stock, due to technical issues on some Toyota model. http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pietoy03aux.html

i dont what kind of aftermarket headunit your talkin about, but on my sony, it has RCA in and i can hook up RCAs from whatever i want and select AUX and it will play whatever is coming in from that source. if its and ipod or if i had a laptop that had RCA outs (or headphones converted to RCA) and it would play it. so please dont tell me i am wrong when I KNOW i have RCA inputs, ill even post a pic if needed
