help with h/u and crossover

ok now i know how to give power to my amps and croosover. now i want to know hot to give sound to my amps

i have a alpine 9815 h/u it has 3 preouts it also has sub preout. the crossover that i got is kicker kx3 it has 2 inputs and 3 outputs im not sure how to setup the rca cables

i was thinking of running rca cables from one of the h/u outputs to one of the crossovers inputs and then from one of the crossover outputs to the midrange amp. and for the sub amp i was going to run rca cable from the sub pre amp outputs from the h/u to the other input on the crossover then from the sub output on the crossover to the sub amp is this the right way to do it

i was told that eddiem67 and Luc can help me with this .....thanks

I heard my name was called.

It comes down to whether you want the headunit or KX3 to manipulate the sound. Typically, outboard crossover has a larger range of adjustment and makes it easier to see what frequency settings you are using. I've installed the KX3 before, and it's a simple, but nice piece.

With the KX3, you can actually control the sub channel output by adding a remote gain control, this is like having the 9815 sub channel volume control. I prefer having an outboard crossover to fine tune the frequency spectrum rather than the headunit. So I would run the F and R from the 9815 to the inputs of the KX3, and then the three outs to the amps.

ok so wat ur saying is that i should only run one rca cables from the h/u to the input of the kx3 instead of using the both inputs of the kx3?? and i do have a remoto gain control from the kx3 its near my steering wheel...i got a 1500watt amp and a 500watt amp im using a 140amp curciut breaker should i use a higher amp number??......thanks

I don't recall if the KX3 will just take 1 RCA input and split up into the 3 channels. But to be certain, you can take both the front and rear preouts and feed it to the KX3 two inputs. Good, you have the remote gain control, just use that for the KX3 instead of the sub amp. Remember, use only the KX3 for all your filtering, do not use the 9815 or the two amps you have. You don't want to filter another filter source since you will be degrading the sound.

Your 140-amp circuit breaker is good enough, whether your electrical system can supply it is another issue.
