Question sub in sidepanel wise or stupid

if i were to put a sub in my side panel in the back of my truck under the quarter window, would i need to have a box behind the panel or could i use my truck as a sub box?

The best way to do this due to the limited amount of space is to build a sealed enclosure out of fiberglass.

You could also do a free air setup, but probably won't sound nearly as good as a sealed enclosure. If you do decide to go with a freeair sub make sure you use alot of sound deadening in that area(well also if you do a sealed).

But look into raammat60 or eDead

It won't seal off the area but it will help to stop any ratting that may occur after mounting a sub there. Don't waste your money on dynamat. Go for the eDead that i linked above.
The best way to do what you want to do is fiberglass, due to the limited space.

Expanding foam is good for filling gaps. Thats about it.

Fiberglass is the way to go.
