Tail light idea?cool or ghetto

I have a 90 Lexus ES 250. Not many custom tail lights out there....if there are any at all.

My idea is to take a stock set of lenses, gut them but leave the mounting portion. Then cut out part of the lens and flush mount some LED tail lights. the rest of the lens would be painted body color.

I've thought of several combos using the standard LED configurations found on ebay. i.e. oval, big round, little round, those new turn signals ones that mount on the mirror glass....

inputs?

I'll probably get a spare lens and give it try anyhow.

I can't really picture it in my head, but once you do it right the LEDs chouls look real nice. I would say go ahead and try it.
