need advice on idea

Ok, here is my question. I have been looking into Ipod integration fo r my car and i had an idea. I want to know if it is possible to run the ipod in it's home cradle (ipod to dual rca) and from there to a variable out voltage line out converter. Then match the LOC to the same power as my HU and have the LOC rcas run into one side of a Male to two female rca splitter, with my HU signale going into the other. I wire an additional remote wite with a switch to the amp. Then I just turn the HU off, switch on the amp, and I have an Ipod acting as my HU. While I realize that this is goig to mean sacrificeing the tuning capabilities of the HU and Processor, but is there any reason it wouldn't work?
Ps the reason to match the LOC to my HU power is so the same amp setting will work for the ipod as for my hu

I might be misusing the term LOC, I might be talking about a Line Driver, please forgive my ignorance. Basically I want either the above mentioned idea, or a preamp eq, either way, so long as it has 4 volt outputs, I'd need four outputs and one sub out.

That's a good ?, But is the reason why you want to do this because your headunit doesn't have an Auxilary input? What kind of headunit are you using?

Maybe one of these line drivers will do what you're trying to do.

you are correct, I have a clarion drx9575z and it does not have any aux in. I appriciate the suggestion for the FM mod, but I have had bad experience with FM transponders in the past and don't like the signal loss. Any ideas on making it work?

I'm sorry I should have been more spcific, I was reffering to the N-645, and the N-332 more toward's the bottom of the page. I think those might do what you're tring to accomplish.

after trying to create a schematic in my head , I think I'm better off just going into an inexpensive preamp eq, then using those source switches instead. this will save me some money as well as allow me to use front rear and sub. I cannot figure out how to best wire it though. assuming I get an eq, the remote from the eq will have to be sent to the switch, then the amp. isn't it just easier to run both the eq and the processors rcas, into a dual female to male adapter, and just only use one of them at a time?
