I am wondering if their is a big difference between the $80 amp kits and the $20. I only need to wire a 400 watt amp to the trunk. Which amp instalation kit would be best for me?
Thanks for any feeback,
Marc
There could be a huge difference, or there could be no difference. What you need to look at is the gauges of wire that comes with the kit, and what size the fuse is.

duhh! If your running 400 watts rms to a sub get a 4awg kit, if its 400 watts for components/speakers get an 8 awg kit.
It's definately cheaper to buy one on ebay or make your own.... Hell, I got 20ft of 4 gauge wire for $5, the ring terminals and other connectors were $4, and a fuse isn't that expensive.

It is 400 max (i jknow not much but its all i could afford). Also do the fuses come with the kits?? and how can you tell if the RCA cables are good or not dont they just bring the electrical flow to the deck?
Does the factory deck have preamp outputs? That's where you plug the RCA cables into. Since you're not running a huge sub, the RCA cables don't really matter. A fuse will most likely come with the kit. You might want to make sure though. For a 400watt max amp, you don't need an $80 kit. An 8awg kit would work fine, but if you plan on upgrading the amp/subs in the future, you might want to go ahead and try and find a cheaper 4awg kit.
Here's a decent one on ebay for $17 shipped. It is an 8awg kit with a fuse and everything else needed.

Yes. One way without going to the headunit is to cut the rca cable ends off, have them plugged into the amp and take the cut end and splice them into your rear speaker wires. Not a great way, but it is possible. I'm sure there's some way you can run them into your headunit, just not sure how.

Yeah, line output converter..... That's the best way to go if you don't want to replace your headunit. That kit cam2xrunner posted is nice. Good price too assuming shipping isn't that much.
