Replacing head-unit on JBL system - wiring diagrams?

I have a 2001 Sienna that has a CD/CASSETTE/AM-FM head unit and the JBL factory amp. My kids stuck change in the cassette slot and fried the circuit board.

I bought an after-market CD/AM-FM deck along with a wiring harness adaptor for toyota. I hit a snag however when I realized that the wiring harness in my sienna has a 20-pin plug and a 12-pin plug that have connections to the JBL factory amp.

The install kit wiring adaptor I bought for toyota must be for the more-common, non JBL systems since the connectors don't match.

Wanted to see if anyone has installed a new head unit on one of these JBL systems. I have searched and searched and can't find any good info on how to go about wiring the aftermarket unit (a pioneer) into the 20pin/12pin wiring harnesses. I have also seen talk on other posts regarding whether to bypass the factor amp or not. Doesn't really matter that much to me - just looking to get things back up and running.

I'm starting wonder if I should just try to find a reconditioned factory head-end on the net and be done with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Buying another factory CD player just like yours will be the easiest route. You can get them pretty cheap off ebay.

Also did you check to see if there is another wiring harness back there? My 99 XLE camry had the external amp, but it was also pre-wired for the regular headunit. That might be worth a look, but most likely it doesn't have that harness.

If you want to use the pioneer headunit you will have to hardwire, by running new power wire, ground, acc turn on lead(from ciggarette lighter or other acc. source. You will also have to tap into the speaker wire after the factory amp, or rewire the whole van with new speaker wire.

If you want to go with another factory CD player keep an eye on this ebay auction.
