I have 2 12" Kickers in the trunk of my 05 Corolla. I barely remember how long I've had this problem. Normally I just have the rear view vibrate and shake to the music, but for a while now, if I have it too loud, it will vibrate and lower, so that sometimes I end up looking at the rear view and seeing the back seats of my car.
I've tried a few different positions for my rear view and some works better than others, but none really keep it in place. Just an annoying problem I'm trying to figure out a way to fix.
My car is actually now being used as a commuter car because of the MPG so my pops drives it from time to time. If it were just me, I'd find a more permanent but reversible solution.
Just ran outside to check it out. I can't find any screws. There's the star shaped one that connects the base to the windshield, but the arm and the mirror are affixed to ball joints.
Seems like something to rough up the ball-like connector is the only way to go.
You should be able to swivel the back of the mirror so you can see a hole in the back side. Inside the hole is a phillips screw which you can tighten to add more resistance to the ball assembly inside the mirror. This should stop the mirror from dropping down.
Hm, I just searched the back. Couldn't find any sort of hole. Also, I have two interior lights on my rearview, so I dunno if it's different from what you guys have or what.
It seems that there is a ball joint connected to the windshield and a ball joint on my rearview. And both are connected to eachother with hard black tube. Doesn't seem like there's anything I can tighten unless it's on the connecting tube.
