NEwbie... question..on sound system in gen 3 camry.
ok, well I pretty much searched on how to install everything, the only question now, is what type of speakers should I get for my 1994 camry xle? Ive been lookign at crutchfield.com and they have coaxials and compodent speakers, I was wondering what the difference between those two are, and also... im thinking about getting 2 12" subs, would a 1000W amp be able to give power to them? < What i mean is would the alternator be able to supply it power?
Sorry for the newb questions, but I would really like to buy the speakers, amps, subs and just experiment, but im very low on funds and i want to buy the system and not need to return anything.
my budget is $800 and im looking for a lotta bass.. if that helps any.
To help with your install it sounds like bass is more important to you than awesome mids and highs so I'd concentrate more money on that.. Is your whole budget 800 or do you plan to add on to it later? Do you already have an indash CD player?
For an 800 dollars dedicated to a subwoofer system I would go with an Image Dynamics IDMAX 12, a custom built box and 800-1000 watts rms amp..
For a complete system including speakers and amps this is a hard deal to beat.
(2) 13Ov.2 Dual 4 + (1) eD NINe.1 + (1) NINe.2 + eDi 6500s Set
$900.00 Package* / Regular Cost $1,400.00 -
From the good people at Elemental Designs, their stuff is very high quality stuff and comes with a 3 year warranty and free shipping.
Do you already have a CD player? Are you trying to fit the entire install into a 800 dollar budget? Like CD player, speakers, amps, subs, box, wiring, etc.?
Yes, I also need a headunit. I'm thinking about adding on to the sound system so 800$ is pretty much for an amp and subs along witha headunit. I was wondering, would i need to upgrade the speakers first? or can I do that later?
*EDIT*
Also would a 1000W AMP take all the power away from the alternator? Would I need caps?

Holy shit that's a good deal. $900 for a complete system short of a HU and rear speakers (which suck, I have none ). That will get VERY loud AND have VERY GOOD SQ.

I love eD's equipment and after owning a bunch of their stuff I can tell you that, that is a hell of a deal. I am currently using their eDi 6500's running on their nine.2 amp and they sound unbelievable. I had a Clarion amp on them for a while and they sounded really good but once I threw that nine.2 on there my face got stuck like for about and hour while I drove around listening to my music.
My advice to you would be to jump on that package deal while it is their and than save for a HU. You could always get a linedriver to run the equipment off of your stock HU until you can afford a good aftermarket deck.
Hey, wanted to introduce myself first but w/e. i just wanted to let you know that a 1000 watt amp is perfectly fine... i have an 1800W amp and most that happens is that my lights flicker a little when im blasting the music.
jbl subs are absolutley amazing but expensive, MTX is pretty fair and really good quality.
I have Alpine Type-R's and with a hifonics amp and i couldn't be happier.
also... stock speakers are perfectly fine but once you get a 4 chan amp for them... an update might be a good idea... friends are telling me to go with infinities.
JL makes good subs, MTX and JBL are ok, there's alot better stuff out there.
I think you would be completely happy with one 12" Image Dynamics IDMAX, with 800-1000 watts rms.
You can keep the stock speakers if you're happy with them for now, but if you like deep loud bass it's going to drown out your stock speakers. I'd look into replacing the front speakers only with a set of components and amping them.
Since it sounds like you are more into bass, I would spend the money on the IDMAX, a sealed enclosure and a nice amp. It'll take the bulk of your budget but you can always upgrade later.
the stock XLE sound system is great unbeleivable highs and great lows my buddy has an XLE and his car sounds like he has subs while he dosent have any, its amazing, all the stock XLE audio is pioneer and its prety decent there is a 95 watt amp rms that pushes the XLE component system so yeah its not like its bad or any thing.
how good are those subs from elemental designs? i have 2 power acoustik mofos running about 4000 watts and yeah i love them but im willing to change if i get more poundage

Get two 16Ov2's with about 1000W a piece and you will be amazed. They will get loud as hell while also being some of the best subs that you are likely to hear.

The stock XLE sound system is not Pioneer. 95 watts max probably. I send 100 watts rms to each speaker. While the stock XLE system may sound great to one person. To another who has listened to quality aftermarket systems, it probably sounds like garbage.

Yeah the stock XLE system is not pioneer, atleast mines isn't. For me though my XLE stock speakers are good enough for me. Although they might not be the greatest, they sound good compared to alot of other stock systems of those years. Maybe some day I'll invest in a component system.
