Unhappy Disc Changer trouble

I recently purchased my Camry and it came with a Disc changer.

when you load in the cartridge of cd's it checks each CD going from the bottom to the top. when it hits the section between the 4th going the the 3rd disc it starts clicking and can't go up any more unless you help it. if you do that it reads all discs but you can only play 1-3 or 4-6 if you try to jump from 1-4 then back to 1 it starts clicking again. I really would like to get this fixed. i know this whole thing probably sounds confusing but i will try to answer questions so that i can have my changer working

You can try to take the cover off and spray some WD40 or apply some lubricant to the gears.

BTW, if you spray, make sure you don't get it near the lens.

The gears are not binding...pleanty of lube. it just seems to not catch when between disc 3 and 2. it then drops down to the bottom and tries to go back up again ...it repeats this three times then it gives an Error 80 and ejects the magazine of discs...anyone else dealt with this? if i push it up then it will read those discs and be fine

Are any of the teeth on the gears broken or missing? Have you tried another magazine?

NOOOOO there are plastic gears in the changer, WD40 will melt them. Only use plastic compatible grease.

Hmm...I didn't think WD40 would be toxic for plastic. I could swear I've sprayed some before over plastic.

NO WD 40 was used.
I just took it apart and looked at what was going on. the gears look good it just doesn't want to catch.
