bridging 2 4ohm subs to a 4 ch. amp.

I have a 4 ch. 400 watt amp and 2 4 ohm 10" rf's. I am wondering how i can get the most power out of these subs? Also i noticed on some comp. setups that they have the subs mounted rear end out. Is their any diff. in sound?
Thanks for any feedback,
marc

Mounting inverse like that does nothing to the sound at all. It's all done just for looks. As far as how to hook those subs up to that amp you will just have to bridge it down to two channels. So one sub will be bridged on two of the channels and th other will be bridged on the other two.

Make sure that your amp can actually do that, some can, some can't.

best way to do it is to wire the two 4 ohm subs in parallel to get a 2 ohm load. thats if your amp has a bridgeable 2 ohm output. the lower the resistance rating, the easier it is for current to run through. Current = Potential/Resistance (I = V/R)

otherwise just plug and play if the amp is rated a 4 ohm. maximum power is achieved when ohm ratings match.

The problem is that it is a 4channel amp. Almost all if not all the four channel amps I have seen are only bridgable down to two channels. Though I suppose you could run both off of two of the channels bridged but as far as I know the prefferred method for what he has would be to run one sub two each of the the two channels that you have when you bridge the amp.

yes my amp says its 2 ohm campatable. Is parralel when you connect only 2 sub wires and connect the 2 subs together? I know it sounds complicated so a diagram would be great.
thanks for the help,
marc

This is how you have to run them.

Qoute from www.bcae1.com

Both Front and Rear Channels Bridged:
This diagram shows how you might use the amplifier with both the front and rear channels bridged. You can see that the rear preamp output channels of the head unit are connected to the 4 channel amplifier AND the input selector is set to 2 channel AND BOTH crossovers are set to low pass. The front pre outs of the head unit are connected to separate amplifier which is being used to drive the front/high frequency speakers. The relative output levels of the high and low frequency speakers would again be adjustable through the fader control of the head unit.

bridging: the amp or the manual should show you the lead point to connect to.

connecting parallel w/ 2 subs: first sub wires to bridge point, 2nd wires sub stack on top on the bridge point. if thats not clear, four wires from 2 subs will be at only two point.

heres pic

That would work fine witrh a 2 channel amp bridged to one channel, but the thing here is that he has a 4 channel amp.
