New IDQ12D4 Setup Pics

Here are some pics of 1/2 of my install....mmxpress.com sent me a broken sub and a used sub, i didnt know the one was used until after i sent back the broken one. So until that gets figured out, here is one sub that IS new and installed. And the last pic is a old Computer power button i rigged up to my garage door opener. :-)

Sorry for the crappy pictures....they looked fine on the LCD of the camera.

Space waiting for MMX to stop fucking up.

You're going to like those IDQ's, very good SQ subs. That sucks that mmxpress sent you used stuff. I can see why they are not authorized dealers.

That box looks like it was made very well, did you make that yourself? Also is it dual sealed chambers?

I've never seen someone put an inline fuse for the ground. Where did you get the idea for that?

The box was made by my friend and his installer, and it is a dual sealed box. The fuse you see is from the 0gauge to 4gauge power distribution block, which is to the power of the amp, cuz right now im only using that 500.1 but soon im gonna put in a different amp for new speakers....when ever i get the money. The ground is the big Clear/Silver wire. Yea...im really pissed off about MMXpress since i spent the money for new subs and got used crap, and also got the wrong sub at first and had to send it back and i had to pay to ship it back. But currently my installer is contacting them about the issue.

Whats the advantages/disadvantages of using a shared chamber and two individual sealed chambers? Tightness of bass?

i believe that would have something to do with it, one reason for the center support was so the box will have more support.

Damnit I want one of those Phantom Face Alpines!

What's are the differences between the 7897 and the 7998?

I know the 7998 has the Biolite display and doesn't have an internal amp, but is there anything other than that?

my buddy drives a 99-00 BMW 323i with the CDA-7998. Its pretty much the exact same unit, just exactly what you said, the display is all fancy and no internal amp....oh yea...and the buttons can either be Amber or Green, unlike mine which stay green always, but change to amber when you enter certain modes in the setup/x-over. The Amber is one of the reasons he got the unit, it matches his BMW internal lighting so well. But its really funny because all of our other friends are like..."umm..how do i use your stereo??" we are the only ones that know how to put in cds without asking how to....but i guess people dont know that universal eject symbol that is on every cd players eject button...lol.
