Wierd. I know when I wear a certain pair of boots I always get shocked. Anyway, you can get those ground straps that hang from your car and ground it everytime the car stops... check your local stores or eBay or something.

That thing looks terrible.

There's a possibility it isn't your stereo. When I first bought my car brand new, it was the first thing I ever noticed about it. It shocked me every time I stepped out of it. Freaked me out the first 200 times, but I got used to it.

Hm... I haven't been shocked in a while now... and it's been almost 5 months since I got my car. I wonder what happened.

me too..

I get a shock every time I get out of my xB. Has happened ever since I got it. Now I'm wondering if there is a problem with some part of the radio installation or something... I'm going to take my car to the dealership and have them fix it.

Pain in the ass...it is a big shock and it never fails.

It's not electrical related, I can tell you that. If it were, you'd be getting much more electricity going through you. It's from friction and moving around in your seat. There's really no way to avoid it, as far as I know. Also, I think this only (mostly) happens in cloth seats and not so much in leather.

you don't have to get those ugly ones....

you can get "performance" ones that are plain and look "okay"...I actually used to have one before I kitted the car, and it eventually fell off, so I just deal with the shocks now...

I think this has been discussed in another thread.

I ONLY get shocked getting out of cars if it's as Toyota, and ONLY in the winter. Leather seats, cloth seats, doesn't matter. I get shocked. I get shocked more when I wear fleece (static buildup with fleece is CRAZY). I now drive a Nissan 240 with cloth seats. Never been shocked yet. I'm getting an Echo hatch next week and I'm positive I will be experiencing more shocks again.

As for those straps, they ARE ugly, but only if you can see them. Try to attach them somewhere farther under the car then no one will be able to see it!

static buildup is more likely in the winter, because the humidity is down. I have these kind of problems around that time of year
