I'm not an audio guy, I know nothin about nothin, literally put in CD, turn up music roll down window, enjoy. If I was going to use only 200 dollars, what improvement do you recommend to the audio in my fifth gen (92) celica?
it has the premium audio package option from the factory (tweeters in the power mirror corners of the windows, etc), and a pioneer head unit.
go ebay, sometimes u can get some mad speaks for cheap.
if ur head unit is okay then look for some front splits. seeing ur car is 2door u dun have to worry to much bout rears so go some good 4 or 5" splits den look for a head unit that can power em if urs cant, otherwise start looking for a simple 2channel amp to run em off, maybe think for future n get a 4channel for rears or a sub later on...
You gotta first workout wether or not you wanna go all out on this system... if this is the only thing your gonna do, put that 200 into a pair of reasonable fronts, 5 1/4" or 6"...
If your got more hopes for later on then go a headunit... thats the way i went. HU, Rears, Amp, Sub, Fronts, Amp... but my roller had after market speakers wen i got it, so they wernt a priorty till they couldnt keep up wif the rest of the audio...
Since you already have the "premium audio" system, I would invest the money in a powered subwoofer, if the system does not have one. Otherwise, I would use the money to buy some high quality recorded music. I'm not sure I would buy components without having decent power behind them. If you can find that for 2 bills, go for it.
Hold on to your money, and save some more cash. 200 hun will get you polk crap, or infinity junk. Your prems will sound better. Cant get a sub, cause you wont have any cash left for a decent amp.
