need help with mp3/cd player

i have a xplod cdx-c5000x unit and i hooked up my mp3/cd player into the audio input(cd changer) so i can listen to mp3's, but i don't know how to switch the source to the mp3 player. everytime i switch source it would only go to radio or the builtin cd player..any help is greatful. thanks

Just a guess. You may have to enable the input from the control panel. (otherwise you would be switching through a dead source (no signal) ) if not using the input.

try pressing the "mode" or "menu" button and ethier turning on the inputs (like most head units) or accessing the input from the the "mode" or "menu" button. i wouldn't exactly kno but its worth a shot or u could go out and get a new headunit.

i tried going to menu but i couldnt find a way to turn on the signal and mode justs switches from am to fm. thanks anyway
what about fm modulator? do those work good? is the sound quality as good as wiring it? thanks

thnx a lot craig for your help but tats a little pricey juss to hook up my mp3 player. i rather buy a new headunit lol, but i found this:

I have one of those cd players in my Trooper, not sure how the mp3 thing would work though. I think that cable you found on e-bay is the solution. I think it isn't recognizing it because that input is for the cd changer.

Although Alpine & Sony uses the same type of connector for the Ai-Net and Uni-Link, respectively, both protocols are not the same. I would say the adapter would work for an Alpine unit since they do have their audio signals within the Ai-Net cable. However, Sony's Uni-Link system is different, and doesn't carry audio signals within their cable, thus requiring a pair of RCA in's on the headunit. It doesn't hurt to try it.
