Angry 2002 camry wire harness and dash kit

I need help! I've trying to replace my head unit with a Kenwood KDC-MP225 but NONE of the wire harnesses I've bought fit! Even though it says Toyota up to 2003. Can someone help me find which harness AND dash kit to get and where to buy them.

Here's some pics

closeup:

and I think this is the amp? behind the glove-box. someone please tell me what this is and if I can configure it somehow:

Isn't there another wire harness back there seperate from the one that was in the OEM Cd player. I remember when I took out the CD player out of my Cam I thought the harness I bought was the wrong one since it didn't fit into the harness that was in the CD player, then I noticed that it had another seperate harness to use in order to bypass the stock amp. Don't know if it would be the same for you. Or maybe you need a special harness since you have a stock amp.

Ah yes, you have found the OEM preamp plug that feeds the JBL amp, which is right next to the ECU, behind the glovebox, as you've pictured. Dig around behind the radio dash and see if you can find 2 mating plugs that can be unplugged (may be wrapped in foam), so you can use the typical 2-plug harness adapter.

thanks guys for the clarification! it really helped me out. i didnt think to look for another plug, and yes - the smaller plug was wrapped in foam. i found the plugs just underneath where the radio is mounted (behine where the control nobs are located).

i bought a scoshe wire harness $7 because metra was $17. i have my new head unit all set up and it sounds really good.

i do have one last problem - the dash kit i bought doesnt correctly fit. i have like 1 inch of space to the left and right of the new head unit.

installing this head unit was like mission impossible. i went to so many stores trying to find the non-existent wire harness, i wasted some crimp connectorss, then the fuse in the head unit short-circuited, and now the dash doesnt fit. i'm wondering if i should have just paid an extra $50 bucks to get it installed, but i guess i could say i installed it myself.

thanks for the help!

meperezs, start from the top, where the clock is. grab it and start to pull. then gradually, start to pull from the sides as it starts to snap off. dont go all the way down yet though, you have to start pulling the panel where the air/hot/cold knobs are because this is panel is actually holding the top panel in place.

when you're putting the panels back, start with the top panel and then snap in the bottom one.

good luck, try not to break anything.
