Do I have a changer port on the back of my dash changer?

Hi all,

I thought this would be an easy question to answer via searching the forums, but I can't find the answer anywhere and I don't want to pull my head unit out to find out.

I have an 03 Camry XLE v6 with the JBL in dash 6 cd changer.

I want to add support for my Ipod through one of the many available interface cables.

Do I have the proper changer port/plugin on the back of my unit since it IS a cd changer? I think I do to add an external, but I want to be sure before buying the Ipod interface cable.

Thanks in advance, and if anyone has done the same and would recommend one interface over the other, it is much appreciated.

THanks,

b

I can't say whether you have it or not, but it's actually pretty easy to pull out your head unit. See http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t67497.html

Thanks

Thanks, I wonder if anyone knows for sure, or even that I should have one. I really don't want to pull apart my dash for some information that should be pretty standard.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

Thanks again for the reply(s).

Easily cured with an RF modullator...for $30 = shipping from www.crutchfield.com. That way you can have your Ipod and all your factory system options as well....you still have to pull the head unit out.

I did a quick search on eBay and found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...958811278&rd=1
The port on the left side is the same port where I plugged in my AUX cable. The CD changer here is from a Tundra, but I'll bet it'll be the same for yours too.

You could use a RF modulator, but for the best quality, you'll want a direct connection to the head unit thru an AUX cable.

Thanks so much for the help, based on the ebay info you found, I'm gonna order the direct connection to the aux and take my chances pulling out the head unit.

I can always returnt the part if for some odd reason I don't have the port.

Appreciate it

I haven't decided yet, it looks like either the NEO iOn, or the ipod2car...

If you don't need the power and control from the head unit capabilities, you can get the TOY03-AUX for much less, around $60-$70. It just converts the CD changer port to a pair of RCA ports to which you can hook up a headphone to RCA adapter.
