Is elastomeric roof coating an alternative to eDead v3?

I've found a few references to roof coatings having the ability to deaden sound. Like eDead v3, they are elastomeric, and so, I was wondering if anybody has actually tried this stuff in their car, or knows if it will have the same effect. Here's an example of an elastomeric roof coating. Pretty cheap compared to eDead v3, though I'm sure they also sell it by the gallon.
