Enough to make it worthwhile to upgrade.

However, I just installed some DLS Iridium Components and a DLS A3 amp off the stock headunit using a line output convertor, and it sounds incredible.

You get better results with upgrading speakers and amps then just upgrading the headunit. It is not neccesary to go to an aftermarket headunit to have good sounds. It does however make an improvement in sound quality when you do though.

The reason for not upgrading the headunit in my case is because there weren't any available mounting kits for a din sized headunit in the new Tacomas. When there is one available a new CD player will be going in, and it will help with the ability for eq tuning.

Dont get me started. The first thing I was able to put in my Cam with this new system was the HU, and even with these ugly paper factory cones, i almost peed my pants. Alpine manages to make even crap sound decent, I put on a few Live CDs and some of my fav CDs, and I heard quality that I was only finding in my expensive headphones hooked up to my MP3 player. Granted, theres about a 35-50w rms jump from factory to aftermarket, even taking into acct the factory amp I have under shotgun's seat. I will always recommend getting an alpine head unit
dont get me wrong, I'm excited for the four component speakers to come in like its christmas or something.
