USA Audio cutout on my corolla when I turn on the headlights

I just installed a Pioneer DEH-P770MP head unit in my '97 Corolla. It's nice! Only thing is whenever I turn on the headlights or even just the corner lamps the audio immediately cuts off. I have no idea why this happens but the head unit has a orange/white wire that supposed to go to a lighting switch but the wiring diagram I used (Below) did not show any indication of where it was supposed to be used. I know there should be a solution to this so...

...help?

Orange/white = dimmer

Tape off the end of it and don't use it.

Look towards the bottom of the page:

That's what I did and it's still doing the same as before. I've elec. taped off all the ends including the orange/white. I looked at your page 88 LE. Would I do anything if I tried the orange/white on the OEM green wire? I dunno what else tuh-do...

Thanks though

Don't do that.

Orange/white = dimmer

OEM green wire = illumination (parking light).

Illimination and dimmer is 2 different things. If your deck had a orange wire (not orange/white), you could tie that to the OEM green wire.

The deck should function properly regardless if the orange or orange/white wire where hooked up or not.

The audio shouldn't be cutting out whenever the parking lights or head lights are on. That tells me your deck is wired wrong or something is shorting out.

Recheck your wiring.

Checked the wiring and according to the diagram it's perfect. The only thing left are 3 OEM wires: Brown(GRD), Light Green, and White/Green. The ground from the head unit I fastened to the frame of the car which is why Brown isn't used. I looked at your diagram: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t15196.html and I noticed that it said to use the 'Light Green'. I used the darker green wire because of it's placement on the terminal block specified to use it and ignore the others. Aside from wiring the ground from the head unit to the actual Brown I'm wondering if changing the green wires would anything serious and correct the problem.

Something has to be wired wrong. What else do you think it could be?

I used to have a problem like this. My amp wouldn't turn on unless my headlights were on. Dimmer -> Remote screw up. Fixed that up and it was all good.

I guess I'll try switching the greens. I have no idea what's going to happen but I don't know what else it could be. I've checked and double checked the wiring and it's all good. I mean it's not like I'm totally shooting in the dark but other than disconnecting every wire and try connecting them one at a time I just might have a professional look at it .

There should be 2 dimmer wires. Positive and negative coming from the car harness. Connect that to the dimmer wire on the stereo (did that with my Clarion so now it will dim with the headlights and the dimmer knob).

I fixed it. Refer to the diagram I first posted but the problem was with the green wires. On my '97 Corolla there is one Green wire and 1 Light Green. It may have been that the diagram I used was meant for '99 models and up but the Light Green was positioned in one of the terminals where the diagram said to "Do Not Use". So I switched it according to the diagram here: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t15196.html (Front/Right +) and it worked perfectly.

Thanks guys for all the help... Aint done too bad for a first time installation! I'll post a jpg if I ever find my D-Cam I'll post one.

^ Glad that you got it fixed.

The green wire (illumination / parking light) was shorting out to a speaker whenever the parking lights/headlights were on.
