how to secure amp??

hey guys, i have a question, i have my amp behind the rear seatback of my 05 double cab tacoma and its currently just sitting there, not secured at all.

now, id like to mount it, but am unsure what the best way of doing it is.

the thing is the bottom can sit flush with the back, but the amp is too tall to fit under the 'bump' on top. so its either mount it at an angle or make a spacer to put on the lower mounting spot.

my idea so far was to use those screws with the tip like a drill bit and just mount the amp at an angle without the spacer.

let me know what you guys think

Get creative with some spare particle board or plywood, and some carpet.

although that sounds good, i think i want something more simple. since its not on display or anything i just want to prevent it from flopping around the easiest way possible

My easy way would be to get a scrap piece of wood a bit wider than the amp. Screw the two lower mounting points to the wood. Place the amp back in the seat opening. Screws the wood down with some vertical screws. Screw the top mounting points to the seat using horizontal screws.

Hmmm... does that make sense?

Do you have any leftover wood from the enclosure you built? An amprack made out of MDF(or plywood) is the best way to go. You can cover it in vinyl to match the rear shelf.

If you don't want to go that route, get some L shaped brackets and bend them so that it lines up with the amp and the rear shelf.

new idea...

how bout if i secure the amp to the plastic cover using screws, and then just use some washers on the back side to distibute the force?

basically this sounds like the easiest way to do it, and it seems to be a good idea. very simple and this way i dont drill into the metal.

This is what I did in my Trooper. I just cut 2 pieces of compressed wood, one for each side. Then I screwed the amp down on it. Then I screwed from behind the plastic panel into the wood as opposed to screwing it into the plastic from the front where the amp is. Just an idea.

ok built the amp rack today.

basically just took a sheet of leftover 3/4" plywood and cut it to 9" tall and 13 or 14" across.

then i screwed the amp onto it and then screwed the board onto the plastic from behind using screws with washers.

worked out great, havent carpeted yet, but i was kind of in a rush. ill eventually get around to carpeting it.
